At the end of the day when all is still
And all that’s heard is the whippoorwill
I close my eyes and softly say,
“I missed you again today…”

With eyes shut tight, tears slipping through,
I lay there quietly, imagining you.
Wishing that I could whisper and say,
“I missed you again today…”

Night birds sing their midnight songs,
And yet my heart just beats along,
Wishing that it to you could say,
“I missed you again today…”

As memories start to flood my mind-
Memories of a lover I left behind-
My voice steps across the stars to say,
“I missed you again today…”

The way you dress and fix your hair;
When you enter a room I can feel that you’re there!
Then smiling at you so softly, I say,
“I missed you again today…”

The smile on your face as your eyes meet with mine;
The love that you bring that erases all time…
Each stare- so true- to you does say,
“I missed you again today…”

Sweet thoughts of you still rushing on
As I live sleepless nights and await the dawn;
Yet all that I can tearfully say-
“I missed you again today…”

Although I know that our love is true
I still wish I could be with you!
But my breaking heart is content to say,
“I missed you again today…”

With tear-stained eyes I rise to the light
And know that I share the same feeling as night-
A loneliness that to you in my dreams does say,
“I missed you again today…”

But I live in the strength that the thought of you brings,
And as the mourning dove his sad song sings
The wind carries on the sweet words that I say-
“Sweetheart, I’ll miss you again today…”
